Weights, measurements, and capacities may vary considerably from those stated as typical for a unit. So, does that mean my vehicle has the potential to "move" weight equalling a total of 5,610 + 5,000 = 10,610 lbs? (car, people, cargo, trailer, etc.Pricing, Weights, Measurements and Capacities Therefore, whatever I am TOWING cannot exceed 5,000lbs. My vehicle's Towing Capacity is 5,000 lbs. This includes driver, passengers, fuels, cargo, weight of vehicle, BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE WEIGHT OF THE TRAILER. My vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is 2,550kg (5,610 lbs) - This means that the weight INSIDE my vehicle cannot exceed 5,610 lbs. The following may provide some clarification on the "numbers" we are all concerned about. A few hills on the way, nothing too steep. I will be camping about 3 - 4 hours away from home. I will be using a weight distribution hitch, and I have a brake controller installed in the vehicle. I figured once I have the trailer loaded with the amount of water and cargo, it should be just marginally under 5,000lbs. ![]() The above quote is EXACTLY what I was looking for, with the exception of my dry trailer weight. I'll post some photos of our trailer and hitch setup soon, along with further updates as our trip continues. We have installed the SumoSprings into our rear suspension springs and they do seem to help lift the back up about an inch higher than it would otherwise be with the trailer attached. We certainly feel the bumps in the roads more severely than we do without the trailer. I think the suspension is where the Kia could improve the most towing this trailer. For much of today's driving I had the car on cruise control and was able to maintain the following performance: Overall, I'm impressed at how the car handled the load, but we haven't encountered any challenging hills yet. Our route took us primarily on I-95 and I-295 with an hour of the trip in the rain. Our trailer, fully loaded weighs probably 4000-4200 pounds, plus we had the four bikes in our car (two on the roof, two in back). I just towed our new Apex Nano 193BHS with the full family, four bicycles, and stocked with food and supplies from DC to New Jersey today.
